Guitar Chords

Probably the most important tool we use in playing guitar, is guitar chords. So knowing your guitar chords is very important if you want to be able to play the songs you like on your guitar. You can find them all in good online guitar lessons like those you can find using the links at the bottom of this page.

Besides, a good grasp on guitar chords can help you a lot when trying to compose your own songs. There is probably no strongest excitement than the one you feel when you can strum a few nice chords, or get even more inspiration and create a melody line based on those chords.

A few tips on using guitar chords

Choose the guitar chord needed, according to the one proceeding and the one following. Use the one that will "fit" the best in between those, so that the motions of your left-hand fingers can be direct, balanced and functional.

You can move from one position to another on the fretboard, by using the same chord as a link (this, if you know your guitar chords inside-out).

You can improvise, you don't have to stick to the correct fingering of the guitar chords. After all, many great achievements in this world begun with a little challenge and experimenting. So use your "free" fingers, or even the "occupied" fingers skillfuly and imaginatively.

You can form chord, rhythmic and melodic patterns based on different forms and positions of a certain guitar chord.

When in doubt, go with the one that enhances your message. (Message is what you send to your audience through your playing). If it requires more technical perfection from you, then fine, go ahead and practice to acquire it. If it is rather simple, that's a good thing too. People merely want to hear and feel what you playing, so there is no point in showing off. Just don't sacrifice the relay of your message, no matter what. And guitar chords are essential in this proces.
