Find The Right Guitar Strap

When searching for guitar straps, there are obviously a great many options. There is no one "right" strap for a player, and your choice will and should be made almost exclusively on personal taste. A good guitar strap should compliment your playing and style, not take away from it. Depending on your image, a flashy, glittery strap may be perfect, or if you're a more sedated, softer player, or just don't dress up that much, a plainer strap might be just what you need.

Generally, there are only two different types of straps as far as general feel goes: there are free-sliding straps, and then there are clingy ones. The free-sliding straps are great for players who move around a lot and are generally made out of nylon and other slippery materials. The more clingy straps are usually made out of leather and are more suited to players who want to keep a firm grip on their guitar at all times. Clingy straps are also typically favored by players who play guitars that are slightly neck-heavy, such as acoustic guitars.

Whatever kind of strap you invest in, make sure to also invest in a decent set of straplocks. These come in all shapes and sizes and are great for avoiding accidental spills which can severely damage your valuable instrument.

Shop for guitar straps and accessories. Find out more about both straps and straplocks. This page can direct you to places where you can find fine selections of all different models of straps, from plain-jane to straps that are flashy enough to make Dave Navarro wince. Check them out today!
