Washburn guitars, which have been in the making for over 120 years, are a piece of history deeply embedded in the music world. Washburn makes guitars perfect for jazz, blues, rock, hard rock, metal and thrash as well as a few others. They are incredibly high end, complex machines which will get you from A to Z and every letter and color in between. Let's take a closer look.
History
Though not much is published on the web about Washburn we know that the original company, owned by George Washburn, was begun in Chicago, 1883, near Maxwell Street. This was during the time where music was beginning to make an impact on the lives of average citizens and quickly becoming a part of commercial entertainment for society. Clubs were becoming popular, at that time, as were blues and jazz musicians.
When the 1920s rolled around, the entirety of Maxwell street became known for it's cultural and musical atmosphere. African Americans straight off the Mississippi Delta were abundant in the area and greatly influencing the music of the time with blues and rhythm. The transition in the area forever changed jazz and rock music with the sultry sounds of blues and deep rythm.
