One acoustic guitar has made its mark in the last 25 years as being the best of the best for acoustic guitar sound - Taylor guitars. Although the company is over 30 years old, they are still on the front lines of great acoustic guitar production.
Founded in 1974 by Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug, Taylor guitars didn't have to wait long before they became quite successful at their business. Several innovations set them apart from the pack, among them was the fact that they offered (and still do) guitar necks in various widths, which is certainly nice for players with various size hands and Taylor necks have always been bolted, rather than glued, on. This construction innovation, which broke with hundreds of years of tradition, made Taylor necks easier to troubleshoot and do work on, because the headaches involved with degluing a neck joint were not longer there.
Taylor guitars have always been at the forefront of innovation - they were among the first companies to embrace the CNC (computer controlled laser cutting) machines, which meant that they could turn out more guitar parts with a reduced labor cost and with far greater consistency. The list of players who endorse Taylor is too long to list here (visit www.taylorguitar.com/artists/ if your really want to know), but suffice it to say that that list is a who's who of the guitarist community.
